The Five Outcomes
1. Be Healthy
At Heritage, we place equal importance on both physical and emotional wellbeing. Every child has access to routine health appointments with a GP, dentist, and optician, while also being supported to engage in active, healthy lifestyles. We encourage balanced eating through practical cooking sessions and provide opportunities for sports, outdoor activities, and fitness. Emotional health is nurtured through therapeutic input, access to counselling, and creative outlets such as art, music, and journaling. Our approach ensures children build long-term habits that promote lifelong wellbeing.
2. Stay Safe
Safety is the foundation of everything we do. Our homes are secure, warm, and welcoming, with safeguarding embedded into daily practice. Staff are trained to manage risk carefully, supporting children to experience safe risk-taking that helps build resilience and independence (e.g., learning to travel safely, using technology responsibly). We operate a robust safeguarding culture, with safer recruitment, regular training, and clear reporting lines, ensuring children always feel protected and respected.
3. Enjoy & Achieve
Education is a key driver of future success. Every young person has a Personal Education Plan (PEP), and we work in partnership with schools, colleges, and virtual schools to ensure progress. Beyond academics, children are encouraged to discover their passions through hobbies, sports, and creative activities. Trips, holidays, and cultural experiences give them memories and broaden horizons. Life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and self-care are woven into everyday routines so children feel prepared for adulthood.
4. Make a Positive Contribution
We believe children are not just cared for but are active participants in shaping their futures. Their voices are valued in care planning, house meetings, and one-to-one keywork sessions. Achievements, big and small, are celebrated through our in-house Awards Ceremony and daily recognition. Children are encouraged to engage with the local community through volunteering, sports teams, and youth groups, helping them to build confidence and a sense of belonging. Diversity is celebrated, and respect for different cultures, faiths, and identities is promoted at all times.
5. Achieve Economic Well-Being
Heritage equips children and young people with the tools for independence and economic stability. Mostly for children slightly older, we provide tailored support for budgeting, money management, and savings. Practical workshops cover CV writing, interview preparation, and workplace skills. Partnerships with local employers, training providers, and career services give young people real pathways into apprenticeships, education, and employment. Our structured independence programme ensures that, as they move towards adulthood, they are confident and capable of managing their own lives.
